is not a reference. It only shows that the amount of phosphate in your water is less than 0,160mg/l. After confirming this message, the device asks you to extend the measuring tube. Now you can detect even trace amounts of phosphate
AQUA-CHECK is a photometer and is used for measuring concentrations of substances in water samples. The photometric measuring process is based on the well known physical phenomenon that a ray of light loses energy as it runs through a liquid. The reduction of the brightness is proportional to the concentration of the substance you want to measure and to the distance the light has to traveö. This physical law is described by the Lambert-Beerial-extinction law. At the stoichiometrical reactions, all the reactors exept for the analytes appear in generous amounts. This is why you have to add a higher amount of indicator than the substance you want to measure would need. The resulting colour is proportional to the concentration of the substance.
Kept cool, dry and frost-free, the reagents are usable for at least two years. A date of expiration is always on the outside of the specific indicator. We believe that the chemicals will still work after three years. We will adapt specifies in due time..
Most of the time, photomeric tests from different producers are only available with a proof of expertise, so they are hardly attainable for the non-professional user. Comparable chemicals might be so aggressive that they could harm or even destroy the measuring lens of AQUA-CHECK.This is why we chose to produce these reagents on our own. Söll chemicals are produced in a way in which they are free to buy and can not harm the device.
Because it‘s easy to spill powder opening a bag, and leftovers might remain in it afterwards, we chose a spoon for portioning the chemicals. This allows a precise handling of the specific chemical and is only produced in combination with the AQUA-CHECK device.
Our chemical methods work quantitative and are evaluated immediately after the Lambert-Beerial law. A compensation is not necessary because it does not depend on water temperature. The AQUA-CHECK device is usable in liquid solutions with a temperature from 5°C - 40°C, while electronic methods such as conductivity or pH-value measurement depend on temperature. Usually, methods like these require a temperature compensation or calibration.
AQUA-CHECK measures the pH-value photometrically. The reference data is made with a potentiometric electrode, Possible errors through a dried out electrode, mistakes at the 2- or 3 point calibration, aging electrodes, dirty diaphragms and other such problems that are usual with other pH-meters, do not appear with the AQUA-CHECK. The used photometric methods counts as precise and is equal to electro chemical methods.
One of the innovations of AQUA-CHECK is that it doesn‘t need bulbs. The measurement is done directly in the water. Because the measuring tube is extendable, the measuring distance can be increased for the detection of trace amounts of a specific substance.
In stoichiometric reactions, all reactors exept for the analyters are in overload. This is why you always give a little more indicator in the liquid than would be necessary. As a result, the amount of added chemical does not insist on being exact. This is why indicators contain a bigger amount of chemicals than they would actually need. Because reactions depend on the concentration and not the volume, it might happen that in the end some powder is left.
As you put in the battery, you should watch that you do not overbend the plus-pole. First slide the battery under the contacts of the plus-pole and then push the battery into place.
Compared to AQUA-CHECK, AQUA-CHECK 2 is able to measure three additional parameters, which are iron, fluoride and oxygen. The measurement of oxygen, which is often important, is usually only possible with the usage of expensive oxygen sensors. This function is included in AQUA-CHECK 2. AQUA-CHECK 2 comes in a stabile, hard case with a variety of additional accessoires and is so suitable for outdoor measurements. Depending on the usage, we recommend one of the two products. Whether you choose AQUA-CHECK or AQUA-CHECK2 depends on your personal needs.
In most cases, the prompt occurs due to stains on the glass rod and lens. We recommend cleaning those parts by using a cotton bud soaked in ethanol or ethyl alcohol.
Different reasons may cause inaccuracies: When using the chemical reagents, you should always stick closely to the waiting times indicated. Please note that any kind of preparative, i.e. shaking procedures, is not counted among the reaction time. If the instruction asks for a “level spoonful”, you can provide this quantity by wiping off exceeding powder with the help of a piece of cardboard, for example.
